This past week has been an exciting time for the Adelaide fashion industry and indeed for those interested in fashion. Now sponsored by the SA government, the 2015 Adelaide Fashion Festival kicked off with an official opening by the premier of SA, Jay Weatherall, at a cocktail party and short parade of all-white garments on Wednesday evening.
Over the next 4 days South Australian designers presented their garments in a series of stand-alone and group runway shows and we were delighted to be part of it. It was a first for Elizabeth V - our first ‘public’ runway show and our first participation in a group parade.
Adelaide born stylist for the AFF, Nicole Bonython-Hines, who has a great ‘eye’, styled the Couture Culture show on Saturday in which Elizabeth V was one of the featured 7 designers. Nicole styled Elizabeth V as we love to see it “… perfect for outer wear for now and then keep forever as sleepwear”. Using three colours – blush, latte and black, she layered chemises, pants, shorts and robes and also featured our pretty little bralettes. It was a very successful show and we received wonderful comments on our Adelaide-made garments.
The closing parade of the AFF showed the exquisite garments of Paolo Sebastian.Known for his stunning ‘red carpet’ gowns for a number of Australian and overseas celebrities, Paolo’s ‘Snow Maiden’ theme for his Autumn/Winter 2016 collection included the use of velvet, fur, embroidered cashmere and the most beautiful laces. Many in the audience (including me) wept as one garment more beautiful than the one before glided down the runway – truly, truly divine!
Paolo is a great inspiration to all in the South Australian fashion industry. He shows us that beautiful, impeccably designed and constructed garments can be made here in Adelaide.
Our new website – https://elizabethv.com.au - is up and running and now all garments in the collection are on view. However, as we are aware that colours are not always accurately replicated on-line, we would be delighted to post free swatches of our garment colours (and fabrics) to you. The pure silk satin fabric we use is a beautiful weight (19 mome) and the colours we offer are enhanced by the quality of the silk satin and needs to be seen and felt.
