I was reading an article recently entitled ”Home for the Holidays: Inspirational Outfit ideas from the pages of Vogue”. The article began by stating that “this has been the year of the kimono, the slip dress, and the pajama set”. We've pinned all of the Vogue images to our Pinterest board for easy reference.
The "at-home" look, be it silk kimonos, pyjama sets, or pants and loose tops, has been a recurring and evolving feature of women's wear since the early 1900's. And despite our modern life styles and the introduction of man-made fibres there really isn't anything more luxurious or indeed glamorous to wear than garments in pure silk satin.
We have always advocated that our Elizabeth V garments are the ideal "at home" look - bridging the gap for dressed-up occasions with a dressed-down look. And what could be more glamorous (and comfortable) than a pure silk satin PJ shirt and pants in dark navy or silver grey, or a camisole top and pants in black or alabaster white - very chic and perfect for the holiday season drink parties and dinners. Our slip dresses are very simple - bias cut and knee length or longer - dress up with earrings, lots of bracelets and beautiful sandals - perfect for warm summer evenings. Or our long silk Tee (Laetitia) with 3/4 sleeves - so easy to wear - over narrow pants or bare legs and little flat shoes or sandals.
This Vogue article reinforces our belief that while many fashion styles change over time, loungewear and sleepwear styles are timeless.
